Empower your story digital media training workshop held over the weekend in Sacramento brought together 29 Indigenous nations and provided hands-on training using iPhones, iPads, video cameras, PC and Mac computers. Participants learned to document, edit and post media to the internet as well as promote their organizational messages onto social media networks.
Sessions included basic lighting, interview techniques, audio engineering, video editing and effective use of YouTube, SoundCloud, Facebook and Twitter. The workshop was designed to teach participants to find and use free software including a basic step-by-step production process of iMovie for Mac's, Windows Movie Maker for PC's and Audacity for both PC and Mac. Participants created PSA's, organizational overviews and short educational resources which included language lessons, and event announcements.
